【高3 SG9期生】ロンドン研修Blog 第2週

今週もSG9期生のロンドン研修の様子をお知らせします。
This week marks my final week at St. Giles.
Before coming to London, I thought six weeks would feel long, but once I reached the second week, it started to feel short. And this week is not just any ordinary week—it’s Easter holiday week!
Since Easter isn’t commonly celebrated in Japan, learning about it at language school was a great opportunity for me to experience a new kind of culture shock.
But before I talk about what I did during the Easter holiday, let me first show you the cheerful and exciting atmosphere of the school on a regular day!

This photo was taken in the cafeteria of our school. During break times and lunch, it becomes a lively place where students and teachers from various countries gather and connect through language. The cafeteria isn’t just a place to buy food—it also has a stage, large sofas, and even a space to play games like football.

At St. Giles, there are morning and afternoon classes, and each classroom is divided by English proficiency level.
In the morning, we mainly study vocabulary, usage, and grammar, while the afternoon classes focus more on practical skills like speaking and idioms. Until last week, the afternoon classes were held only with our SG class members, but starting this week, we have been divided into classes based on our English levels.
While the morning classes are made up of students of the same level, my afternoon class now includes both B2 and C1 level students. I often find myself impressed and inspired by the skills of the C1 students. We’ve had discussions on topics like the “trolley problem” where we took votes after debating, and we even did a mock trial about the installation of wind power, each of us taking on specific roles. As a B2-level student, I often struggle to express my opinions smoothly, but the other students are always patient and eager to understand what I mean. I constantly feel how amazing it is to connect with people from different backgrounds through English.
